Integration Partner Spotlight: Datagate

Last week I was able to catch up with Usman Zahoor, the Regional Sales Manager at Datagate. Usman works out of the Datagate head office in Jacksonville, Florida. He’s been busy on the road attending the Channel Partners Conference & Expo, and the Vectors SkySwitch User Conference. It’s exciting to see in-person networking come back in a big way!

Datagate is one of our partner-built integrations for Telecom billing. It’s an integration that removes manual data entry for Telecom / Managed Service Providers. Quotes and proposals will “push” Person, Quote, and Line Item data into your Datagate account to process billing.

In this spotlight we’re doing a deep dive on what Datagate is, and how Quoter can be used to connect your quoting to billing.

Thanks for joining us Usman, so what does Datagate do?

Datagate streamlines the billing workflow for MSPs by automating usage rating and producing accurate, compliant, telecom-formatted invoices.

Datagate rates, bills, and bundles usage-based VoIP services – including tolls, toll-free, international, and long-distance.

As an agnostic billing system, Datagate can combine billing for multiple providers in one, unified billing platform for faster invoicing

Our integrations into PSAs (ConnectWise Manage, Datto’s Autotask PSA and Kaseya) and accounting software (QuickBooks Online/Desktop and Xero) eliminate rekeying and mistakes by easily importing data and exporting telecom invoices.

For US clients, Datagate also works with the best telecom tax engines to produce modern telecom invoices with automatically calculated telecom taxes.

What businesses are a good fit for Datagate?

Datagate is suitable for any MSP or Telecom Provider that is offering voice services to their clients and is looking for a way to automatically rate usage data and stay compliant with telecom rules and regulations.

MSPs that are utilizing a PSA such as ConnectWise Manage, Datto Autotask PSA or Kaseya to manage their IT billing are the perfect fit for Datagate. Datagate’s direct integrations into these products enable MSPs to easily synchronize customers, products and invoices to and from their PSA.

For customers not using a PSA, Datagate also integrates directly into accounting systems like QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop and Xero.

For Canadian MSPs and Telecom Providers, Datagate integrates into the popular Canadian-payment processor, Moneris, for the best payment processing rates.

How does this help Telecom MSPs?

Managing multiple disjointed systems with overlapping functionality can be ineffective. Most MSPs have already invested time, money, and manpower to set up a billing workflow that works for their business in their PSA or accounting system.

Datagate is hyper-focused on telecom billing and our integrations with popular software means MSPs can easily add telecom billing into their existing workflow, rather than overhauling their entire ecosystem or having to do a lot of manual rekeying.

Datagate integrates with Quoter, allowing MSPs to automatically push accepted quotes into Datagate for billing.

MSPs using Quoter will be pleased with our direct integration which allows accepted quotes to be used in Datagate to quickly configure customers, monthly recurring charges, one-off charges and discounts.

Alternatively, these quotes can be accepted and imported into the PSA system first, from where they are automatically synchronized by Datagate for billing.

How can MSPs and telecom providers get started with Datagate?

We like to start with an initial needs assessment call to determine the billing requirements of every customer and get a better understanding of their existing workflow and systems involved.

If there is a fit, we then discuss the various billing workflow options that are available and work with the MSP to determine the best way we can fit into their environment.

Our onboarding process is very hands-on and we do the initial configuration of the chosen workflow for the customer.

Contact Datagate to get started.

How much does Datagate cost?

Like most telecom billing systems on the market, Datagate charges based on a percentage of pre-tax telecom revenue that is billed through the system.

There is also an upfront implementation charge that is determined based on the requirements for onboarding.

Datagate’s pricing is very upfront and straightforward with no hidden fees or charges and MSPs/Telecom Providers can get started for as little as $300/mo.

Thanks, Usman! Anything else you’d like to add?

At Datagate, we pride ourselves in great customer service and like to think of all our customers as our partners.

Our goal with every onboarding is to really drill down into the MSPs requirements and to set them up for long-term success with selling voice.

Over the past few years we have seen a strong surge in demand for VoIP services from businesses of all sizes.

This puts MSPs in a great spot as they are already seen as the trusted advisor by their customers.

Not only can adding voice services be a great way to keep customers sticky, it can also be extremely profitable.

However, billing voice can be a big challenge for MSPs since it is so different from IT billing.

With a specialized billing partner like Datagate, MSPs can quickly tackle this obstacle and provide voice services to their clients under their own brand.
